WHY EXPORT TO MEXICO
Presenter: Luis Domenech, Founder and Managing Director of Market Intelligence Latin America, S.C. (MILA)
Mexico’s cybersecurity market is estimated at US$2.4 billion. According to a PwC 85% of Mexican companies have plans and systems in place to respond to cyber attacks, however average investments in cybersecurity have only represented 3.8% of the total IT investment budget and 57% of the companies surveyed indicated not to be prepared for advanced cyber threats so it is a growing market with significant growth opportunities.
75% of Mexican banks have been victims of cyber attacks in the last two years and recently, in May 2018, the central wire transfer system of Mexico known as SPEI, suffered a hack where US$15 million was diverted to different accounts and raised concerns about the security of Mexico’s banking system.
In addition to cybersecurity, Mexico is a fast growing market for physical security solutions. Most cities in Mexico are investing in CCTV, public safety and disaster prevention technologies. Doing business in Mexico’s cyber security and physical security market requires having some form of local presence and the presentation will offer information on different alternatives for Maryland companies to participate in these dynamic and fast-growing markets.
