About the Financial Analyst Role:
ELS is seeking an analyst with a focus on accounting, incentive implementation, and taxes in our Location Strategies practice to be filled immediately. This role offers a dynamic work environment where you will work on multiple projects simultaneously, applying analytical skillsets and learning new tools while gaining first-hand consulting experience. Responsibilities include research assignments on a broad range of topics such as financial modeling, economic incentives, New Market Tax Credits, Enterprise and Opportunity Zones, TIFs, FILOTs, real estate, industry, finance, workforce, and demographics. You will also be preparing and visualizing this information into spreadsheets, presentations, and related formats.
The position focuses on identifying and vetting financial savings for clients at the federal, state, and local levels, preparing financial data, calculating tax and incentive benefits, and creating cost comparisons. Additional duties include examining and verifying project expenses for eligibility in accordance with regulations and program guidelines, monitoring and tracking the progress of projects participating in programs, troubleshooting, and providing assistance to help clients successfully complete projects. You will also provide technical information and assistance regarding tax credits or grants, conduct program policy research and development, and track changes.

- Prepare comprehensive reports and present information effectively in oral, graphic, and written forms
- Conduct financial modeling and forecasting
- Analyze and interpret financial data and apply statutes, regulations, and agency policies
- Identify funding opportunities
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, economic development professionals, and local, county, state, and federal agencies, as well as external partners and clients
Education/Experience:
- Undergraduate degree or higher in business administration, accounting, or related business disciplines
- Understanding of basic corporate taxation and accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, with advanced proficiency in Excel
- Ability to work independently on research and analytical assignments and deliver quick, accurate results
- High comfort level analyzing large datasets
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong writing skills
- Programming skills are beneficial
An Added Bonus if You Have:
- Advanced coursework or experience in accounting, taxation, incentives, or financial modeling
- 1-3 years of work experience in related consulting or accounting positions (helpful but not required)
- 1-3 years of work experience in economic development or related government services (helpful but not required)
- Experience with ESRI’s GIS Suite, Census, ACS, BLS, JobsEQ, D&B, Adobe products, LoopNet, or CoStar
