About the Analyst Role:
ELS is seeking an entry-level analyst consulting position with a focus on GIS and analytical research in our Location Strategies practice to be filled immediately. Work in a dynamic young team on multiple projects at once, applying analytical skillsets and learning new tools while gaining first-hand consulting experience. Responsibilities include research assignments on a broad range of topics, including economic incentives, real estate, industry, finance, workforce, and demographics, and preparing and visualizing such information into spreadsheets, presentations, and related formats. The job includes working with demographic databases, economic modeling tools, and GIS (geographic information systems) to assemble, analyze, and visualize large sets of information pertaining to a business location.

- Self-starter with the ability to function well in a small, close-knit team
- Excellent record-keeping, organizational and research skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to:
- Evaluate complex technical information and translate it into nontechnical, user-friendly terminology
- Prepare comprehensive reports and present information effectively in both oral, graphic, and written form
- Prepare complex technical studies and analytical work in transport modeling, statistical analysis, land use planning, systems planning, multi-modal transportation alternatives
- Conduct site visits and evaluations as needed
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, economic development professionals, local, county, state, and federal agencies, external partners, and clients
Must Have:
- Undergraduate degree or higher in economics, geography, or related social sciences disciplines
- 1-3 years of work experience in economic development or related government services helpful but not required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work independently on research and analytic assignments and deliver quick results
- High comfort level analyzing large datasets
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Programming skills are beneficial
An Added Bonus if You Have:
- Advanced coursework/experience in GIS
- Experience with ESRI’s GIS Suite, Census, ACS, BLS, JobsEQ, Adobe products, LoopNet, CoStar
