Greg is a Managing Principal of Evergreen Advisors. While pursuing a legal education, Greg developed an early interest in securities law, corporate planning and estate and trust taxation, which led him to the fields of investment banking and business valuation. He supplemented his legal background with post graduate courses in accounting, finance, and management, which set the foundation for over 30 years of providing financial advisory services to a diverse base of private and public companies.
During his career, Greg has successfully completed numerous acquisitions and divestitures, providing a full range of advice pertaining to the valuation, structuring, financing, negotiating and closing of transactions. He has assisted owners of businesses in identifying and evaluating strategic alternatives to maximize value including growth through acquisition, divestitures, succession planning, and accessing capital markets through private placements of equity and debt.
Greg has authored business valuation opinions for a variety of purposes including Federal estate, gift and income taxes, equity based compensation, stock recapitalizations, fairness and solvency opinions, financial reporting, mergers & acquisitions, and has qualified as a business valuation expert.
Investment Banking & Valuations
Prior to joining Evergreen Advisors, Greg was Director of Mergers & Acquisition, CoreStates Securities Corp., the investment banking arm of CoreStates Bank, N.A. In this capacity, he served as investment banking liaison for the Bank’s customers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland, and assisted customers with mergers, divestitures, ESOPs, private placements of investment grade debt and mezzanine capital, and general financial advisory services.
Prior to CoreStates, he served as Vice President, Corporate Finance Department, Mercantile-Safe Deposit & Trust Company, Baltimore, Maryland. He was head of the Trust Department’s Corporate Finance Department, which oversaw the valuation of the largest portfolio of privately held companies in a Maryland based trust institution. In this capacity, Mr. Huff served on the board of directors of operating businesses and investment holding companies. While at Mercantile, Mr. Huff specialized in business valuations, mergers & acquisitions, and raising capital.
Greg is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and holds his Series 79 Investment Banking Representative License and Series 24 General Securities Principal License .
Greg received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and his J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law.
Greg is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association.
He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Baltimore School of Law and has spoken on the issues of business valuation, Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), and mergers & acquisitions on numerous occasions before professionals and business owners.
If you want to catch him outside the office you'll have to be up pretty early; as an early morning golfer he's often out at sunrise!
